This Adorable Flipboard Printing GIF Camera Needs To Be Real

Are you ready to have your heart broken? The GIF-TY camera, designed and built by Jiho Jang as part of his college thesis, is an adorable Polaroid-like snapper that captures animated GIFs and actually prints them out as tiny flipbooks on instant Z-ink paper. Except that for the time being, you can't buy one.

Sure, they're not as easy to share as posting an animated GIF to your Facebook or Twitter feeds. But as anyone who's ever vandalized a textbook with a tiny animation in the page corners will tell you, there's just something undeniable appealing about playing with an actual flipbook. It's just too bad the only GIF-TY in existence is in Jang's hands, and until he graduates, there's little hope of this being commercialized. [YouTube via Taxi]

Driving Safely on Arizona Roadways to Avoid Accidents | Personal ...

By Breyer Law Offices on May 14, 2013 -

As a motorist you know the general rules about driving safely. You know that you must watch where you are going, avoid distractions, and follow the speed limit. You know that everyone in your vehicle should always wear a seat belt and that you should avoid acting or reacting with rage against other drivers.

But you may not understand all of the different safety rules that have been set out for drivers in the Arizona law, such ARS 28-729, which sets out rules for driving on streets that are lined for two lanes or more. Drivers are required to remain within the lane they are driving in unless they are passing other vehicles on the roadway. According to this law, drivers are prohibited from driving in the middle lane on a three-lane road unless it is necessary to make a turn or to facilitate overtaking another vehicle.

Arizona Traffic Collision Statistics

Drivers who fail to remain in their proper lane while driving are responsible for nearly 3,250 Arizona traffic collisions each year, according to recent reports by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). Nearly 60 of these collisions result in fatalities and an additional near 900 of these accidents result in injuries to the people who are involved. The remaining of these collisions cause only property damage, but this damage is often severe and costly, leaving the victims and the at-fault drivers with significant economic losses.

Who to Call For Help After an Arizona Traffic Collision

An Arizona traffic collision caused by a driver who did not stay in the proper lane can cause serious injuries, and victims should contact a skilled personal injury attorney. The Husband and Wife Law Team helps victims by working out the details of fair settlements to cover the costs of recovery, including replacing lost wages during recovery, taking care of hospital and other medical bills, and for non-economic costs like pain and suffering. Our attorneys will help you understand your case and your rights beginning with a free consultation. For help with your personal injury accident case contact the Breyer Law Offices, P.C.

When a Family Business Should Outsource Human Resources ...

Below is an exert from an article I found very interesting so I thought I?d share it with you.

In this case study, Philadelphia?s Buzz Marketing hired a pro to handle HR, saving the owner time and tension over family hires.

The Challenge: 2012 was a big year for Buzz Marketing Group. The Philadelphia research and viral marketing firm had reached its 16th year and landed large clients such as Dell which would drive its annual revenue up 112% over 2010. To handle this influx of work, the team had grown over the same period, with 60% more contractors and 33% more employees.

Growth has its drawbacks, however, and founder Tina Wells was frustrated with how much time she spent on human resources, rather than business development. Wells estimates that she spent nearly 8 hours a week handling tasks like tracking vacation time, updating the employee handbook and creating job descriptions. Additionally, she?d hired several of her five younger siblings at different points in the company?s history and even today, two of her siblings are full-time employees. Wells says there was a misperception within the firm that family received special treatment, creating tension she wanted to erase.?

Related: Is it Time to Outsource HR?

?We needed to address how we were going to attract new senior talent as well as promote open communication within the company, whether or not your last name was Wells,? she says. ?Sometimes regardless of how a company operates, you can?t help how others feel when a lot of employees are family. I try to remind people that Walmart and Campbell are both ?family? businesses too.?

The Fix: Last year, Wells expanded its contract with Paychex, a third-party payroll and human resources firm. Buzz initially started working with Paychex in 2011 to manage its payroll. In 2012, Paychex began managing the firm?s human resources, overhauling the company?s handbook from 20 pages to 130 pages, codifying the firm?s policies, crafting job descriptions and tracking employee performance. With an online HR system, employees could easily access company manuals and forms as well as track paid time-off themselves. After expanding its services, roughly 1 percent of Buzz?s budget goes to Paychex, according to Wells.?

Paychex also helped ease the transition for two key hires to the company in 2012, a vice president of marketing and a chief operating officer, creating job descriptions, offer letters and working with new hires in their first weeks.

Related: 3 Tools to Take the Headaches out of Hiring and HR

But most importantly, hiring Paychex created a neutral, third-party layer of management to address misperceptions of nepotism within the company. ?We had an HR process previously, but having somebody completely unassociated with the family manage human resources made it easier for everyone on staff to communicate,? says Wells. Paychex created a cushion between the staff and leadership, leading to ?a much more comfortable working environment. Bringing in a third party was the only way to make everybody feel like there was a fair playing field.?

These days, the time Wells spends on HR concerns for her 8-person firm has shrunk by 88% to one hour a week and she can focus more on decision making for her business. ?This has given me the time to be the creative executive I want to be, coming up with solutions for my clients,? she says.

The Takeaway: Hiring a third-party human resources firm can save time and ease communication issues in a family business.

Tanzania Church Bombing Kills 1, Injures Dozens

ZANZIBAR, Tanzania ? A woman died and 44 people were seriously wounded when a bomb exploded in a Roman Catholic church in northern Tanzania, a Tanzanian police official said Sunday

The woman died in hospital as a result of the bombing in the Arusha church just before Mass, which was attended by the papal envoy to Tanzania, said Magesa Mulogo, the regional police commissioner of Arusha.

Mulogo said eyewitnesses report that the bomb was thrown from a motorcycle into the church. Mulogo said the driver of the motorcycle has been arrested.

The Vatican's ambassador to Tanzania, Archbishop Francisco Montecillo Padilla, was attending the official opening of the church when the explosion occurred. He escaped unhurt.

Mulogo said the motive of attack is not known but Tanzania has in the recent past experienced sectarian violence between Christians and Muslims.

Owners of Hungry Pets Can Now Turn to Pet Food Stamps ...

Pet food stamps
Alamy
As many unemployed Americans have found, putting food on the table without a regular paycheck can be a challenge, which is why so many of them have come to rely on food stamps.

But what about their pets? There is no federal program to help feed dogs, cats or other animals kept as household pets, but one enterprising entrepreneur has stepped in to fill the void by creating Pet Food Stamps, as The Wall Street Journal reports.

Started by Marc Okon in February, the program is available to people who are already on government assistance. Okon said he was inspired to start the program after a friend in his old New York City neighborhood fell on hard times.

"She told me she sometimes fed her cat before herself," the newspaper quotes Okon as saying.

Regardless of the reasons -- job loss, home foreclosure or health problems -- the need is real. Though some 47 million Americans receive food stamps, the benefit cannot be used to purchase pet food, which frequently results in pet owners having to give up their cherished animals.

As Okon told the Journal, "Millions of pets are surrendered to shelters each year and euthanized because their owners can't afford to feed them."

Okon says his small nonprofit, which employs about a dozen people, has received more applications for aid than it can readily process. As CBS News reports, the organization has received more than to 160,000 applications from needy families across the country.

The program is a lifeline for pet owners such as Marissa Jenkins. The Salem, Ore.-resident considers her 6-year-old Dachshund, Olivia, a part of the family.

"She's a kid to us," says Jenkins, a new mother whose husband lost his job in December. Jenkins is grateful for the help she's received from Pet Food Stamps and told CBS News that once the couple is back on their feet, they will donate to the program to help other needy families feed their pets.
