COMMENTARY | American voters have the opportunity to remove one of the most liberal presidents in the history of the United States from office this year. President Barack Obama rode into Washington with virtually no experience in governance. He pasted a broad smile on his face and told the desperate, uneducated and idealistic what they wanted to hear.
The country is now deeper in economic turmoil and debt than at any other time in history. Unemployment statistics hover ever so slightly above those during the Depression era.
President Obama is considered far left of center by Americans, according to a Gallup survey published by Politico. Liberals do not understand that the money they are spending is a result of the labor of others. The business owners Democrats consider so vile create the jobs that provide the paychecks the far-left enjoys spending with total abandon. Fiscal conservatism is on the rise in America. Independents, libertarians and the illusive moderate Democrat will determine the next inhabitant of the oval office.
President Obama ranks at the top of the list of most liberal presidents in America, no other commander in chief worked harder to deteriorate individual freedom, personal responsibility and crush the free market which once made the United States the most prosperous nation in the world. Thankfully President Obama is far more of a politician than he professed during the campaign or he would have pushed even harder to cripple the economy with unsustainable spending and tax increases.
After the initial adulation subsided, the president had to produce results and not just parrot pep rally speeches. Obama is now in campaign mode, allowing his advisors to weigh all the angles of every issue before uttering a wrong word and risk losing precious votes.
The president's belief in social justice and a redistribution of wealth will be his ultimate downfall. The Occupy Wall Street folks are Obama's primary constituency and even they have grown disenfranchised will his abysmal leadership skills. Unemployed protesters walking around with crudely worded signs in tents in public parks want to know when they are going to get all the freebies their enigmatic champion of the downtrodden promised.
Times are tough and it will take a lot of hard work, dedication, perseverance and self-reliance to keep the bills paid and a roof over your head. A man who has always relied on the taxpayers for a paycheck is ill-equipped to direct the American economy.
